New this year at our “Back in Bloom” Garden Tour on May 20th at The Virginia Robinson Gardens will be a fun hat contest with prizes. Founder of the Friends Joan Selwyn said, “Virginia Robinson was inspired by her gardens, and she in turn has inspired us. Wear your favorite garden hat or create your own work of art, and wear it to ‘Back in Bloom.’ Join the fun, and let nature and your imagination inspire you!”
Our four judges, talented florists George Martinez of George’s Garden, Jelena Trifunovic of Viola Flowers, Ines Garstecki of Flowermaid, and Beth Shoenmann, boutique manager of Christofle will announce the winners at 2:30 pm.
The three prizes will be:
- An ikebana class offered by Friend Katie Marsano:
- Discover the fusion of nature and self-expression in a Sogetsu ikebana lesson. Katie will guide you through a basic lesson of this traditional Japanese art form of flower arranging. Allowing nature to be your guide, explore how to create living art! Katie is currently a 4th-grade teacher in Sogetsu ikebana and trained under the RIJI master Mika Otani in Tokyo.
- A beautiful silk scarf designed by Joan Selwyn.
- A lovely rose bouquet by Lynne Vinkovic of Rose Lane Farms.
Welcome all hat lovers to this fun event!
