Barbecue Honoring Our Staff at VRG

We have an extraordinary staff at the Virginia Robinson Gardens. Master Gardeners Pablo Rodriguez, Fernando Marroquin, and Tony Carmona were our honored guests at a barbecue on the Back Terrace on July 19, 2022. Ron and Elaine Stein prepared a mouth-watering barbecue in their honor. Other honored guests were Superintendent Diane Sipos, Curator April Walton, Estate Caretaker Josh Johnston,  Recreation Service Leader Michael Fricke, Staff Assistant Jacqueline Rodriguez, and Member Relations & Administrative Manager Barbara Remedios.

At lunch, Josh told us many stories of his experiences as a caretaker of the property. It was a beautiful day and a chance for everyone to relax and enjoy each other.

Hot dogs and hamburgers with all the condiments that one can imagine filled the buffet table, along with a delicious garden salad of fresh tomatoes and avocados. No barbecue is complete without homemade lemonade, and ours was especially delicious. The dessert which included a choice of fresh peach, apple, or berry pie was quickly devoured by all the guests.

We want to make the barbecue a yearly tradition.

President Betty Goldstein added that this barbecue was initiated by our wonderful founder Joan Selwyn, who always appreciates and acknowledges the work and dedication of the staff.
