On September 15, 2018, the Friends of Robinson Gardens celebrated a spectacular evening under the stars. The theme of this year’s Patron Gala was “Mrs. Robinson’s Supper Club.” Virginia Robinson Gardens was transformed into the magical era of the 1930’s and 40’s. The magnificent florals were the creation of Luna Gardens, reminiscent of nights at the Copacabana. Our very own Andrey Yun did two beautiful florals in the Pool Pavilion. Guests were treated to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres under twinkling lights. The stunning Pool Pavilion metamorphosed into a Ladies and Gents Club for the evening, complete with a green screen for fun and festive photos.
President of Friends of Robinson Gardens Patti Reinstein sent out a warm welcome to our guests. Enchanting songs of the past were played by the Dave Damiani and the No Vacancy Band… strains of saxophones and horns filled the air. During the evening, noted singer and lyricist Siedeh Garrett, jazz singer and actress Renee Olstead, and singer Randy Taylor delighted the audience with special performances.
During the course of the evening, the Spirit of Beverly Hills Award was presented to Syd Leibovitch, founder and President of Rodeo Realty. Maralee Beck presented the Camellia Award to past Friends of Robinson Gardens President, Leslie Kavanaugh. Madeline Maghsoudi, manager of Lalique Beverly Hills, also presented Leslie with an exquisite crystal decanter.
The silent and the live auctions were filled with excitement as guests signed the bid sheets, while donating funds to support the important projects at our beloved Virginia Robinson Gardens — restoration, renovation and the Children’s Program. Thank you to the Gala Co-chairs Laura Alpert, Robin Blake, Evie Carlson, Barbara Marcus, and Angela Movassaghi who created a beautiful and memorable night.
