Fellows Event at the Skirball – Ruth Bader Ginsburg Exhibition

Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg offers the viewer a visually rich, entertaining, and comprehensive look at Justice Ginsburg’s life and career. On Wednesday, January 9, 2019, a sold-out Fellows group from Virginia Robinson Gardens attended this exhibition at the Skirball Cultural Center. The highly interactive exhibition was quite engaging. The moment we entered with Associate Curator Cate Thurston, the contents of the exhibition came to life and provided an elevated review. Several nearby museum guests wanted to join our tour – it was a true exploration showcasing archival photographs, documents, contemporary art and media relating to the Supreme Court Justice’s life. We had a unique opportunity to view the American legal system and civil rights movements as part of Ginsburg’s personal experiences and public service. Spotlight on Evelyn Carlson

Each month we will spotlight a volunteer, staff member, donor or sponsor of Virginia Robinson Gardens (VRG)—those that have made an impact on the organization. We want to let you, the reader, know a little bit about these wonderful people and corporations that give so much to the Virginia Robinson Gardens and community, and what they do that is so impactful. This month, we spotlight Evelyn Carlson, a dedicated Friend of Robinson Gardens and Board Member. We asked her these three questions: 1.  How did you first learn about VRG and what inspired you to become a Friend? Marcella Ruble introduced me to Robinson Gardens. Sometime in the late 1990’s, I went on a Garden Tour with Marcella’s sister-in-law and a couple of her friends.  A few years later, when I was no longer working full-time, I decided to volunteer.
