What an exciting time it is to be a part of the paradise which we enjoy at Robinson Gardens!
From the Garden Tour – “Pathway to Paradise,” in May to the elegant “Shangri-La” Gala in September, the Robinson Estate has never looked better.
Restoration projects are continually underway. A few of our projects have been to restore original paint colors, reproduce textiles on the inside of the home, upgrade our irrigation system to decrease our water usage, and replace our roof. One exciting achievement has been the cloning of the one-of-a-kind bougainvillea which grows at the end of the tennis court.
Thanks to the LA County Board of Supervisors, along with Superintendant Tim Lindsay, and Maralee Beck, we have been granted the ability to share this property with many more people. In fact, the Gardens will now be open by appointment, Monday through Saturday, as well as most holidays. The Friends are also now permitted to offer four special events per year. Scheduling multiple types of activities on the property with up to 100 visitors a day will now be possible.
One day soon, visitors will be greeted by chickens in the Monkey cage!
As we begin this season, we thank all of our members who contribute so much of their time, energy, and talents. Our Gardening, Educational, Botanical, and Children’s Programs have filled the 2014-2015 calendar. There are so many opportunities to learn and grow.
We are the ambassadors for improving and sustaining this unique property. As Virginia Robinson was passionate about her life and love for her gardens, our mission is to maintain and preserve her legacy and the history of this 6 ½ acre First Estate in Beverly Hills.
