From time to time, we highlight “Our Garden Tour Stars” — landscape architects, florists, and interior designers who have participated at our annual Garden Tour and Showcase Estate at The Virginia Robinson Gardens. We want to let you know about these very talented designers, their inspirations, and their creations.
This month, we are featuring florist PattiSue of Xoxo PattiSue. At the 2024 Garden Tour, she decorated the Master Bedroom beautifully with stunning arrangements of soft-hued romantic roses. Her floral designs enhanced the feminine ambience in the room while in a corner, a mannequin, “dressed” with roses, foliage, and shawls added a whimsical touch.
We asked PattiSue these five questions:
1. How did you decide to become a floral designer?
I decided to become a floral designer out of necessity to be quite honest with you. I couldn’t find a floral shop that would do what I wanted for my wedding at the time. I was a very young and particularly picky 20 year old, and I wanted what I wanted, so I made it myself. I’ve always been a creative, so even though mechanically speaking, I still had a lot to learn, my eye was already there.
2. Where do you find your inspiration?
From nature! You can ask most of my flower babe friends, and they will tell you I can do a flower install, and it looks like it grew there! When I need some sort of inspiration, I head to the mountains on a hike with my babies or my best friends!
3. Can you please share some photos of your favorite floral arrangement(s) and/or projects you have worked on?
4. What is the book that inspires you the most?
Sometimes I wish I was a reader, however my creative mind is always busy, so sitting and reading is rather difficult for me.
5. How would you like to be contacted?
By phone via call or text (626) 214-6715
