Each month we will spotlight a volunteer, staff member, donor or sponsor of Virginia Robinson Gardens (VRG)—those that have made an impact on the organization. We want to let you, the reader, know a little bit about these wonderful people and corporations that give so much to the Virginia Robinson Gardens and community, and what they do that is so impactful.
This month, we feature David Bronstein, a dedicated docent at Virginia Robinson Gardens, whom we would happily clone if we could! Those who have toured the estate with David know how his boundless enthusiasm for the gardens shines through in his world-class storytelling. We were intrigued to know more about how David came to discover the estate and gardens which brings him such joy. We asked David some questions to give you the reader, insight into what has inspired him:
1. How did you first learn about VRG and what inspired you to become involved?
Chuck invited me on one of his Docent led tours in 2014 and it was love at first sight from the moment I arrived at the Virginia Robinson Gardens.
2. What’s your role – How do you contribute to VRG?
I’m so grateful to be a Volunteer Docent since 2015. I lead public tours almost every week and I happily volunteer for private fundraising events with the Friends whenever my schedule permits.
3. Would you share a favorite VRG memory with us?
The serenity of the Water Lilies.
The mysteries of the ancient Cycads.
The sublime sounds of the Musical Stairs.
The brilliance of the Walking Banyan Fig Tree.
The perennial red Bolivian Powder Puff blooms.
The fragrant flowering white Hibiscus Tree.
The sensational orange Clivia’s floor inside the 2 acre Palm Forest with hundreds of King Palms providing shade and beauty.
The 18 all-knowing Cypresses bearing witness to more than a century of groundbreaking cultural events.
All of it.
