Spotlight on Cindy Fields

Each month we spotlight a volunteer, staff member, docent, donor, or sponsor of Virginia Robinson Gardens (VRG) -- those that have made an impact on the organization. We want to let you know about these wonderful people and corporations that give so much to the Virginia Robinson Gardens and to the community, and what they do that is so impactful.

This month, we spotlight Cindy Fields, a wonderful and dedicated longtime Friends of Robinson Gardens Member. Cindy has volunteered numerous times for many committees over the years, and she is very stylish, reflecting her love of fashion.

We asked her these three questions:

1. How did you first learn about VRG, and what inspired you to become a Friend?

Like so many others, my first exposure to the Virginia Robinson Gardens was attending the Garden Tour, probably around 1995. I was enchanted by the beautiful gardens visited and the exquisite floral artistry at Mrs. Robinson’s Estate. As I learned about the Friends and the incredible work they were doing to preserve and maintain this jewel, I wanted to be involved!

2. What’s your role -- how do you contribute to VRG?

Over the years, I have had many opportunities for involvement working (more often like playing) as Board Member, Education Chair, Garden Tour Chair, and Treasurer. I was also co-chair of the 2016 La Dolce Vita! Patron Gala honoring Joni Smith.

3. Can you share a favorite VRG memory with us?

The friendships made have been many, and I am very grateful. Jeanne Anderson and Maralee Beck are great mentors, the best of the best! The years serving as treasurer alongside co-Presidents Adrienne Horwitch and Julia Klein were the most challenging, but ultimately very rewarding. I very much look forward to the reopening of Robinson Gardens and once again seeing many dear Friends.
