Spotlight on Pamela Davis-Burns

Each month, we spotlight a volunteer, staff member, docent, donor, or sponsor of The Virginia Robinson Gardens (VRG) — those that have made an impact on the organization. We want to let you know about these wonderful people and corporations that give so much to The Virginia Robinson Gardens and to the community, and what they do that is so impactful.

This month, we spotlight Pamela Davis-Burns, a terrific and dedicated Recreation Service Leader at VRG. She is always so enthusiastic and kind. Eager to help in any way she can, Pamela is a sheer delight to work with!

1. How did you first learn about VRG, and what inspired you to become part of VRG?

Looking back at my journey, it all started when I sought a change from my part-time job in the South and applied for a full-time position with LA County. Having the opportunity to interview with Diane Sipos, the Superintendent, alongside April Walton, the Curator, was a pivotal moment for me. From the moment I stepped into that interview, I felt that this was the place I needed to be, and I am so thankful that you all saw something in me. Being part of such a powerful group of women is truly inspiring, and I am grateful for the support and belief you have shown in me. I’m so grateful!

    2. What is your role – how do you contribute to VRG?

I wanted to take a moment to share my role as a Park Recreation Leader here at the Gardens. I am committed to assisting with the Children’s Program and capturing our interactive moments. Also, I’m dedicated to helping with the setup for various events and tours, ensuring everything runs smoothly from the moment our guests arrive. Greeting visitors at check-in is one of my favorite parts of the job, as it gives me the opportunity to make a positive difference and welcome everyone to our beautiful space.

    3. Can you please share a favorite VRG memory with us?

My favorite memory is when I ask Diane and April can we start celebrating birthdays and having a quarterly potluck! At one of our potlucks, we all sat down at the table together as a work family, which I don’t even do at home anymore.  We went around the table and shared our stories about how we got hired at VRG, and we all had a funny story! The best part was all of us being together sharing how God brought us all together. Showing So much Love❤️I look forward to many more celebrations in the future.

    4. Please add any additional information you would like to share!

I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the tremendous honor of being recognized by such a wonderful group of amazing, beautiful women. It truly means a lot to me to be acknowledged by individuals who dedicate their valuable time, thoughts, resources, and energy, all while balancing your busy schedules and commitments to your families. Thanks for noticing little old me!

YEAH PAM !!! I was lucky to have met Pamela at the beginning of her County career working in the South Agency of Parks and Recreation. Immediately you are drawn to Pam by her infectious smile and “smiling” attitude, in all that she does. Although we only worked together for a very short time in the South, I have embraced Pam as a good friend as well, and I only wish the best for her in all that she has achieved and in her future with VRG. Love you, girl !!
