LA Clippers Recognize FRG for Children’s Education Program

On December 8th, the LA Clippers informed the Friends of Virginia Robinson Gardens that they would be recognized for their Children’s Education program by a Clippers Player inspired program called Tobi’s Heroes. Tobi’s Heroes honors people in our community who encourage and support children through sport, community service, or education. Tobi Oyedeji was a close friend from Texas of the Clippers’ Deandre Jordan. Tobi died in a car accident shortly after Jordan was drafted to the Clippers in 2008. The Friends of Virginia Robinson Gardens held their first Holiday Open House, thanks to President Marian Power who envisaged presenting this wonderful, festive holiday celebration in the style of the 1950’s at the Robinson Estate. It was a sold-out event, and such a fun and exciting day, that many attendees expressed how fabulous and great it was. Friends member Rosanna Grabel enthused, “I love it. I love it. Nestled among the Topatopa Mountains of central Ventura County, Ojai is not only home to many beautiful ranches and orchards, but also architectural gems of quaint bungalows and historical homes. The Friends of Robinson Gardens is proud of its member Lisa Gimmy whose firm, Lisa Gimmy Landscape Architecture, is the recipient of two American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Southern California Chapter, “Quality of Life Awards.” The theme of this year’s ASLA awards was “Celebrating the Evolving Vision of California Landscapes.”

Poulet Palace Turns Two

When Tim Lindsay, Superintendent of the Virginia Robinson Gardens, and the Friends of Robinson Gardens expanded the Children’s Program, they decided that chickens would be a perfect addition. The Beverly Hills Garden Club provided funds to assist in converting a space for the hens.
