WHAT IS THE GARDEN TOUR?

For the past twenty-eight years, the Friends of Robinson Gardens has organized the annual “…into the garden” Benefit Tour, to raise funds for the Virginia Robinson Gardens historical estate. This event is truly unique in that ticket holders have the opportunity to visit selected private home gardens rarely seen by the public. The affair peaks mid-day with a catered luncheon at the Virginia Robinson Gardens, where the Friends honor a member of the community as the Grand Marshal. In addition to this prestigious honor, the Friends of Robinson Gardens will be presenting its Vanguard Award to someone who is considered a tastemaker and innovator in the community. Throughout the estate, ticket holders can view the mansion’s historical rooms uniquely embellished by premier interior designers and florists. The luncheon program includes a fashion show of the latest looks by IRO, as well as an opportunity to purchase unique gifts at our boutique located on the tennis courts.

This year the Garden Tour will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Keying off the popular Spanish song, this year’s theme “De Colores; The Art of Botanical Seduction” will excite, stimulate, and entertain with references to Spanish gardens, from the beautiful Alhambra all through Latin America. Florists and designers will transform the Robinson Gardens estate into a riot of colors. Private gardens will inspire our patrons, and a colorful boutique and bountiful buffet will ensure the loveliest day of the year at the most incredible public garden in Los Angeles County. The Friends of Robinson Gardens are thrilled to be organizing an event full of history and fresh blooms. Join us!

Internationally Renowned Interior Designer Suzanne Rheinstein

Suzanne Rheinstein is an internationally renowned interior designer whose work has been published in countless magazines, as well as making Architectural Digest’s prestigious AD100 and Elle Décor’s A-list. To Suzanne, every entrance is an invitation; every passageway and room should have a regal sense of calm. Ms. Rheinstein, a native of New Orleans, creates spaces filled with intrigue, tranquility, powerful graphics, soothing colors, and she always employs an eclectic mix of art and antiques from different periods and cultures.

Her signature store, Hollyhock, is a design mecca filled with carefully curated antiques and accessories, as well as her furniture, lighting, rugs, and textile collections for Hollyhock Inc. and Lee Jofa. She has published two widely acclaimed books, “At Home” and “Rooms For Living” both published by Rizzoli, New York.

FASHION PARTNER IRO

IRO, a Paris based fashion brand, was founded by brothers Laurent and Arik Bitton in 2005. With a background in the music industry, Laurent and Arik decided to channel their love for music into a different medium: fashion. Inspired by fashionable women from their inner circle of friends, they decided to create a clothing line that had a distinct vintage feel, while at the same time mirrored a nonchalant, easy chic style. By combining great craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the finest materials, the IRO collection found its unique voice within the fashion world.

The Beverly Hills location was opened in April of 2014 on sunny Beverly Drive.  The store itself is an exquisite place to shop and we pride ourselves on an excellent customer experience,  where you will find your favorite IRO pieces and complimentary styling.

The Virginia Robinson Gardens and Estate will be open at 10:00 a.m. that day, closing at 4pm. WHAT TO WEAR
Many of our enthusiastic attendees in the past have dressed to the theme, and with this year’s Latin “De Colores” flair, we would be thrilled to welcome attendees who are taking our “Frida Kahlo” inspired look to the next level! Of course it is not at all required to dress up to attend, but we do encourage attendees to dress comfortably with walking shoes when visiting the various gardens. Many gardens have stone paths or grass. The month of May in Southern California is typically quite warm, so be prepared with layers if the morning is cool, and we definitely recommend that attendees wear sunscreen and a hat!
